Domain

A Domain provides a method of grouping wiki nodes by problem or information domain; nodes that belong to different domains may have the same name. In the future, domains may also be used for fine grained access control restrictions for individual nodes. See Domain Privileges for more information.

Since there would be multiple namespaces with the domain system, it becomes necessary to expand the reference syntax to accommodate references to nodes that are in another domain, and to domains themselves.

A domain's "front page" topic would be a sub-topic with the same label as the domain.

• A reference to a node within the same domain would remain the same as before:

• A reference to a node in another domain would contain both the originating domain, and the destination domain, separated by " : ". (Note that the colon must be enclosed in whitespace.) This would use the node topic as the link text, but indicate that the link is cross-domain with a new CSS class, "xd".

• A reference to the "front page" node in another domain would end with a " :", and must be set off from the domain title by whitespace. This would use the domain name as link text and would also use the cross domain CSS class, "xd".

This change would signify a new major-version update.

This node is strictly a proposal, and has been scheduled for implementation in Version 3.0.
